Summary

Opened in May, Maddren Homes’ latest show home in Millwater, North Auckland is a great example of how a mix of colours and textures can produce a spectacular result. Tony and Terena Anderson, Managing Directors of Maddren Homes, explain how they chose the various materials and design to create their second show home in the area - starting with Firth’s Manorstone block in Antique White. “We have been building in North Auckland for the last five years and there has been a lot of interest in our house and land packages as the growth in the area is taking off,” explains Tony. “Because of the increased interest we thought we would produce a second, contemporary show home. ”

“Adaleen from Firth had shown us the Manorstone White range of blocks and Terena and I thought that the Antique White block - in a rumbled, stack bonded finish with the Dricon Antique White mortar - would suit the cathedral beam ceilings of the interior of the house. ”

Terena worked with a colour consultant and decided that using black contrast joinery, downpipes, spouting and long run roofing would create the striking result they were after.

This was finished off with a black concrete driveway in Firth Elements Thundercloud, bordered with a Firth Forum 'Black Sands' Paver.

“We couldn't be more happy with the final look of the home,” adds Terena. “The contrast of the stack bonded Manorstone block, the weatherboard and black and white colouring certainly makes the house stand out.”

Maddren Homes were Gold medal winners in 2012 in the Master Builders House of Year - Show Home category - for the region and also made the New Zealand finals. Tony and Terena are keeping their fingers crossed that this house also gets the thumbs up from the judges!
