Your Future at Firth
In-house Training
At Firth we offer a range of in-house training programmes and learning initiatives to take your skills to the next level.
Driver training programme
In this programme we take Class 2 licence drivers and upskill them to the Class 4 (heavy rigid vehicle) licence. You get paid throughout the training process, with pay increases each time you qualify for a new licence Class.
In two weeks, we take you from a Class 2 licence to a Class 4, and then over a six-month period we give you the opportunity to build your experience until you can operate independently.
Cadetship
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in all areas of the trade, while getting paid at the same time! Our supportive team culture helps you build your skills set and prepare you for your next steps at Firth.
Cadets will be assigned a Mentor who will support them through their selected qualification, providing coaching and advising on training and work experience placement as well as monitoring advancement toward their qualifications.
Cadets will be required to work in various parts of the business, potentially on a number of different projects in different locations to gain practical experience within the industry.
Cadets will be able to study towards
- Concrete Fundamentals (Limited Credit Programme – “LCP”). This is a pre-requisite to the NCCP.
- National Certificate in Concrete Production (“NCCP”).
- National Certificate in Goods Service (Heavy Vehicle Driver, Class 4 Strand).

Additional benefits
- Additional 5 days of ‘new parents’ leave for both primary & secondary carers, valid for one year after return.

We know some of the best ideas to do better come from our team so encourage our people to share their ideas in following people-led action groups.
The Equality Network Group works to improve gender equality and balance in roles across the business – including in leadership. Examples include providing women with professional development and networking opportunities within Firth.
Tātai is our Māori network. It aims to bring together our Māori community to network, grow, and support each other to succeed.
FB Pride is a well-established group that provides a safe channel of support to our staff in the Rainbow Community.
